The History of Enrique Peña Nieto

The rather beautiful Enrique Peña Nieto is possibly the most popular presidential candidate for Mexico in years. It is safe to say that prevailing opinion holds him the top contender among the candidates. The others participating in the polls are thus more than a little concerned about his presence.

The official campaign period for Mexico's 2012 Presidential Elections does not start until April but Peña Nieto's momentum and popularity see no signs of dwindling down. Nieto is famous for his mastery of the theatrical side of the political sphere. Nieto also happens to be an extremely charismatic person, with an innate magnetism.

Some of the critics are prone to saying that Nieto's repute is all due to a supposed deal he made with the most influential TV network in Mexico. It is alleged that the network was in cahoots with him to promote his achievements in the past. Critics and opponents claim that the alleged deal is the reason for Televisa's support of the man.

These speculations came about after Pena Nieto announced on national television his romantic relationship with Angelica Rivera. The woman happens to be a superstar of Mexican TV. Nieto's first wife was not Rivera, though: it was a woman named Monica Pretelini, who was dead by the time he and Rivera were seeing each other.

He and his first wife have three kids. Pretelini's death was caused by cardiovascular issues during Nieto's governorship. This made Nieto one of the most popular single Mexicans in the country.

Nieto's fame with the females is merely a small contributor to his growing reputation. He is also known for having solicited a great many requests and made promises to fulfill them. His work has been primarily concerned with infrastructure development.

Nieto is known for having held large parties or gatherings during inaugural dates of the resulting public works. This is perhaps one big reason for the man's reputation as a politician who actually keeps campaign promises. While these launching ceremonies were successful in heightening his public appeal, his critics point out that organizing these assemblies cost more than the public works projects being launched.

His critics managed to get other fodder for their remarks about him when he made a few gaffes at the Guadalajara Book Fair. It was discovered during the fair that Nieto was not capable of remembering the names of the people who had written some of his "top" books to read. Nieto was noted to have said that he usually forgot these details, being more interested in the tome's contents.

The errors he made, though, set off a wave of critique over various channels. Paulina, Nieto's first daughter, was quite emotional about the issue and also gave out a scathing portrayal of the people ridiculing her father. Even now, in spite of all the politician's efforts to stem the critics, they are still making fun of him for his alleged lack of intellectualism.

It is a shame, Enrique Peña Nieto claims, that so much of his speech ends up being taken apart and decontextualized. All the same, Nieto is still the most popular candidate for the presidency. Even as the other candidates have much longer and extensive political experience than him, he remains a tough contender because he is the one who will bring in the votes.
